COVID-19 Updates From New Life
We are looking forward to resuming IN-PERSON SUNDAY SERVICES THIS WEEK (DECEMBER 20TH)!
As we resume services this weekend, we ask that you continue to observe social distancing, good hand-washing, as well as mask-wearing while in the building. Masks may be removed when you're in your seat, but we ask that you'd please wear them when you're up and about.
Children's ministry is back in session for all previously enrolled children. (If your child is not enrolled in the NLCF children's ministry program and you'd like to be contacted when enrollment is open again, please contact the church office at (989) 354-0095 or via email at email@example.com. Children are also more than welcome to stay with their parents during the message in the sanctuary).
Please see the Children's Ministry Page for more information.
There will be both livestream and in-person options for this year's Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Thursday, December 24th at 6:30pm. In person spaces are limited and available by reservation only. Reserve your seats here.
At last night's meeting, the board decided to continue with "online only" service for this Sunday December 13th, with IN-PERSON service RESUMING on December 20th, unless there is reason to reconsider.
Please continue to stay tuned for more information from our Board Members in regards to what re-gathering in person will look like, including safety procedures, children's ministry, as well as information about the Christmas Eve Service.
(Announcements will be made during THIS SUNDAY'S ONLINE SERVICE- we will also post here and send emails, too. Please help us by spreading the word to those in the body who may not have seen or heard. We appreciate your help in getting the word out!)
Thank you for your continued support, grace and prayers during this temporary season. We're looking forward to being able to safely gather in person again soon!
A Note from Pastors Gary and Michelle Smith
and The New Life Board
Dear New Life Family,
We want to wish you all a Blessed and Merry Christmas. In the midst of the many challenges we are each facing, we can still rejoice that our Savior was born, He went to the Cross, is seated on His throne and is coming back as the King of Kings! He is the source of our HOPE. He gives His PEACE and JOY in the midst of all circumstances!
We (Gary and Michelle) will be taking the next several weeks off for Gary’s surgery and recovery time. We thank you for your prayers and support! We will miss you all, but be assured that both Gary and the church are in good hands.
We and our board, Cliff Prince, Deb O’Neil, Mike Fisher and Chris Morgan, have been meeting weekly to prepare for our absence and to monitor the state of our community. We have been praying for God’s guidance and wisdom.
Our community and northern Michigan is experiencing a significant and serious surge in the Covid-19 cases resulting in an influx of very ill patients, to the point that area hospitals, including ours, are at maximum capacity. Hospitals are experiencing staffing shortages due to staff testing positive. Those who are able to work are putting in long hours to care for the sick. We appreciate our frontline workers and we need to support them!
Out of concern for our community and each one of you, our Board has made the difficult decision to continue with the TEMPORARY pause of in-person worship services. This is not an easy decision nor one we take lightly. It has not been made out of fear, but out of a desire to act responsibly as a church family and to act with wisdom.
Our board will continue to meet weekly to monitor this. A decision as to whether we will meet Sunday will be made by Thursday evening of each week. Our goal and hope is that we will be able to resume in-person worship before Christmas. For those who cannot participate in person, we respect and support you in doing what is best for yourself and your family.
In the meantime, the entire 10:00AM Sunday worship service will be online – we warmly welcome you to join us! The small group gatherings such as First Friday and Thursday Intercessory Prayer and Bible Study’s will still be available for those who would like to participate. Be sure to check the weekly announcements for that week’s event schedule, especially with the holiday changes.
We each have the tremendous opportunity of walking in love toward one another, and supporting each other and our community at large. Our community is looking for hope! It is a time for us to SHINE for Jesus and to walk in grace toward each other. At times like this the pressures of life will reveal both our strengths and our weaknesses – when we are under pressure what is within us is what comes out. Let’s ask God to make us fruitful vines!
We pray for God’s rich blessings of good health, strength and wisdom for each of you.
In HIS love and grace,
Pastors Gary and Michelle, and the New Life Board
