COVID-19 Updates From New Life
A Note from Pastors Gary and Michelle Smith
Greetings New Life Family and Friends,
First of all, we'd like to say that through this time of uncertainty, we want to commend you all for being strong, loving and supportive of one another. We know there are lots of different views, but we've all been able to work together and that's so pleasing to us as leaders. We're going to continue moving forward together!
Even though this has been a trying time, God has not been restricted! Through beginning our livestreaming in efforts to stay connected with you all, the Gospel message out of New Life has continued to spread even beyond the borders of our own nation- out all over the world!
We've also seen God work in the formation of the New Life Care Team- where members of the body have been intentionally reaching out, checking on one another, praying for one another, and meeting needs as they arise. The Men's and Women's groups really stepped up and ministered in their spheres of influence, and our church administrative team and board have been incredible supportive and flexible, and have been working together as a team - WE THANK YOU.
As under-shephards of the Lord, it's our concern to make sure that all of us are cared for and that we're still fed, and though we've been restricted physically, we've all been so unified as a body! We have seen people coming to Jesus Christ, people being baptized in the Holy Spirit, people shopping for one another, people taking meals to one another! Amazing things have been happening! Don't for a moment let yourself think that the Holy Spirit has been restricted during this season; God has been actually pushing all of us into new areas and doing new things in and through us. This has been a very FRUITFUL season!
We encourage you to continue to pray that doors would be open for the Gospel to be preached!
Speaking of opening doors, we've been seeking the Lord about an issue that's been on every Pastor's heart across the country during this time. We've really been looking at how and when to open the church in a responsible way. We know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure- and that this virus is no joke. We ARE, however, excited to announce, in agreement with our board, a "soft opening" is scheduled for our church on Sunday, May 24th.
We WILL continue livestreaming from the church at this time. There will be more information available as the plan firms up.
Thursday Intercessory Prayer is back on Thursdays from Noon to 1pm at the church. People are welcome to come, all the while adhereing to the 6 feet distancing. We want to do this wisely, and we want to do this with respect for one another. While we're all continuing to "shelter in Jesus" and beginning to come back together, we want to love one another by doing the practical, wise things in the natural, and continuing to keep our faith in Jesus Christ. It is not a lack of faith to use wisdom, to respect, serve and love one another.
As those who are ready to begin meeting again begin to meet on May 24th, this service will be adults only at this time. We are still working out the details on how we can do our very best for our church family. Children's Ministry will not be meeing at this time, nor will there be a Fellowship Meal in the lower level after church, and we will continue to respect the social distancing protocol. You will all be receiving a questionaire so we can hear from you about how you're feeling moving forward. We are going to navigate this TOGETHER!
On Pentecost Sunday, May 31, families will be welcome back (there will not be children's minsitry or downstairs fellowship time). We want to make sure that we honor and serve one another well during this time.
We are praying for you and your families, and we thank you for your continued prayers and grace during this time of change.
We love you!
- Pastors Gary and Michelle
